Live to design. Design to live.

We design products because we love product design — it's as simple as that. We created a business to make it possible to do this work every day. Whether we're working with a client to develop a new infusion pump or in the shop to create a piece of handcrafted furniture, our work is infused with our passion for design and engineering. The tools are different, but the output is the same — lovingly crafted concepts imbued with our skill and passion for design and product development.

Because we value the work we do — for clients and for ourselves — we aim to provide the maximum value to our clients for every minute we spend on their projects. This means that we work hard to internalize their personal and professional goals, make them our own, and then focus 100% of our energy in achieving them. We are able to spend the time and attention required to do so by keeping our organization small and personal and working with only a select group of clients — often only a short drive away.

The cost of a thing is the amount of what I call life which is required to be exchanged for it, immediately or in the long run.
— Henry David Thoreau

Our personal work reflects the same values as that of our professional work. We create objects and products designed for functional beauty, rugged simplicity and with a sense of authenticity. Our work spans multiple media and manufacturing processes and includes both one-off devices and those designed for high volume production.  All our work influences and is influenced by our professional experiences in product design and higher education.

Time is the most valuable coin in your life. You and you alone will determine how that coin will be spent. Be careful that you don’t let other people spend it for you.
— John Dryden

Great product design requires a holistic balance. The same is true for our business. Pixel & Timber was designed to leverage our capabilities in product design & development for our clients, so as to foster room for the creative and personal experiences that in turn, feed great design work.
