P&T literally completed our project in half the time and half the budget of competing firms. They made learning early a financial possibility.

I’ve used Pixel and Timber in technical brainstorming sessions over the past 10 years. Having someone there with technical knowledge and the ability to sketch a concept in real time greatly increases the quality of the output over the hand waving and chicken scratches I have gotten without them. If you are talking one-on-one with a colleague about a problem you are chewing on that is one thing, but if you are getting together a team to ideate on a problem, do yourself a favor and bring in someone to help capture the ideas.

He brought creativity and innovative thinking to an iconic brand and package which had several design constraints. He and his team did a very wide exploration at the start that gave us much to think about. He also used some creative tools and processes that I found really useful.

Pixel and Timber is masterful at quickly distilling a client’s vision and demands into stimulating illustrations and compelling prototypes... Pixel & Timber works with a great sense of urgency and purpose which is extremely important to business managers striving to capture the kernel of a new concept before it dissipates. Their holistic approach to ethnography matched with their knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, glass, etc.) and appreciation for the entirety of a product’s development life cycle (from user input to 3D models to post manufacture packaging) causes P&T to stand out well from other industrial designers in my experience.
— Thaddeus MacKrell, CEO, Par Excellence Systems
My experience has been that traditional firms focus on aesthetics with a flair for ergonomics. It is not uncommon to receive designs at PSN that have finished the ID stage and are “ready for manufacturing” to have chosen materials, shape factors/designs, and processes that are incapable of being manufactured. It is my personal experience with the Pixel and Timber that their industry leading creativeness is thoughtful and complementary to ensure wholistic product development that accounts for all legs of the product development cycle.

David worked on a very important project for us at WD-40 Company. He was a passionate, thoughtful designer that looked at the whole picture from user to design to manufacture. He was patient with our changes and mediated the process in times of stress.
— Steph Barry, Vice President of Strategic Projects, WD-40 Company
In our organization, our ventures and bets use gated funding with heavy emphasis on learning ahead of spending. Our current Product Development partner has a more traditional and longer-term metabolism. When we needed to validate a product concept, their 6 month time frame and six-figure project costs were out of the question. We weren’t ready to launch a product — we wanted to know if anyone would even like our concept. We wanted to answer a question: Would anyone care?

Pixel and Timber’s limber thinking and focus on the right details allowed us to test and experiment on only the most unknown aspect of our project. Since they were able to do precisely the research we needed to do, we were able to move quickly on a project that would have otherwise languished in indecision. P&T enabled faster data and faster decisions on our project.
